64African Child
Amid The globe,
Appears a figure,
Of an African Child,
Who believes and practices,
The most embracing tradition,
Inspiring is the figure,
In his professional field,
Standing a zebra,
Before the globe,
Passing intellectualism,
To the undergrowth,
Metamorphosis in the rtich culture,
African child,
Stands a symbol of liberation,
Unity and prosperity,
Amongst Africa and africans,
and Africa and all race,
We have won,
despite being children,
That have no future,
While toiling up,
The dark valley,
United African States
Shall one day reign,
Though much later than soon,
Yet the road has been laid,
For African generation to follow,
Thus,
Africa discard ethnicity,
Grow the spirit of brotherhood,
Embrace the legacy ordained to mankind,
For African child struggles for mother African,
We believe,
In predistination,
That destiny shall take part,
In Africa's future,
Africa,
Shall shed tears of joy,
For her earnest heroes,
And forever honour,
The achievements,
Of her prosperous children,
Forever,
Shall africa bear,
the estimable african child,
As son and father in Africa,
And his Shadows shall remain Africas.

I would also like to share an article about Africa. This is from a friend of mine who is originally from Africa, but was raised in the Philippines. She lambasted about the ignorance of others about the situation in Africa. While it's true that majority of the continent is in war or undeveloped, the most developed in Africa has more GNP than the whole US combined. I would appreciate it if people like those research first before lambasting...
Yes, hope springs eternal my friend. I do hope and pray the very best to Africa as my heart goes out to her. I too believe it will come by the hard work of persons such as yourself. Good luck to you
My hope is the unity of africa and the whole race in the world. nd with people like C. C. Riters it will come to pass.

This poem is dedicated to Prof. Ali Mazrui. I wrote the poem in 1996 after a lecture he delivered at the then Defunct House of Assembly of Plateau State. The title of the lecture was - 21st Century Africa, Problems and Prospects. Then I was a student of University of Jos, Nigeria. I am presently a teacher with El-Kanemi College of Islamic Theology, Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria.
